IARA Winter 2011 Newsletter

Greetings IARA members, and thanks to all of our volunteer committee members who contribute so much to the Alliance. Many things have been happening with IARA since our recent Fall Newsletter. I will provide a brief overview here, but please contact me if you would like more details about any of these items.

All IARA member companies now have their website URLs highlighted for their company. Just click on a member name and the link will take you to their website.

The IARA Membership Directory has recently been updated! Check out all of the updates in the member’s only area today!

The IARA Job Center is Now Live! There are now 2,006 job postings listed, drawn every day from all other national job sites which feature automotive jobs. IARA member companies who post positions here receive a huge listing discount, and those positions are then pulled in turn to other job sites featuring automotive positions. It’s a big win-win with maximum industry exposure, so check it out and inform your HR departments.

Congratulations to Mike Kreider, National Remarketing Manager, CreditAcceptance, for achieving the IARA Certified Automotive Remarketer (CAR) status last month. Well done Mike! Mike is the 21st IARA Certified Automotive Remarketer.
Credit Acceptance has also enrolled seven remarketers in the IARA CAR program. They recently conducted 54 exams on site with Dave Sutton of Carfax, who is CAR Certified as the proctor. Great effort and thanks to all involved.
Recent company multiple enrollments also include New England Auto Auction with six persons; LeasePlan USA with four persons; and Manheim Auctions with ten persons. J.D. Byrider also has a new enrollee.
There are currently a total of 35 persons actively testing in the IARA CAR Program
The IARA Standards Committee, Chaired by Dan Heinrich of GM/Americredit Financial, has recently completed an industry survey on vehicle history reports. Eighty-three companies responded to the ten question survey.

The two main items of interest were:

1. Improving The Data Correction Process
2. Standardizing The Wording on Vehicle History Reports

The committee is in the process of sorting out the responses. Thanks to all committee members for their participation and to the companies that responded.

The IARA has formed a new committee chaired by Layne Weber. This committee will be a focal point for consignors, in order to combine various consignor vendor requests into one. A vendor will then have one party to respond to, rather than having the same request from 20 or more consignors. Tracking the disposition of license plates at turn in sites is one of the first items of business for the committee.

Mark your calendars for March 14/15 at Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas,
for the IARA/CAR Conference!

The IARA portion of the CAR Conference, which is no charge for CAR attendees, will commence at 0815 with an opening session and keynote address.

There will be two timely Roundtable topics in the morning followed by the IARA Circle of Excellence Luncheon with an industry keynote address. Please go to www.carconference.com to register and for more details.

The Board of Directors and I wish to thank all of our supporters, sponsors, friends, and most of all our members for making 2011, the Tenth Anniversary of the IARA, the strongest and most memorable year in our history. We have made a difference in the remarketing industry, and we look forward to many more successes in the future. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Please have a wonderful, safe, and joyous Holiday season. Best wishes to all!
Matthew Marks, Executive Director & Robert Wagner, President
