TECHNOLOGY REPORT                                                                 Thursday 2:00pm - 2:45pm

The Technology Committee’s mission is to explore current and new technologies that may be applied to the remarketing industry.  This session will focus on findings in the following areas:  Vehicle Location Mapping at Auction (John Sullivan); New Condition Report/Mobile Inspection Technology (Steve Solomon); Personal Information / Privacy Issues (Aaron Wuchner and Andrea Amico); Transportation Tracking (Brian Husman); and Centralized Titles / Electronic Odometer Statements (Aaron Wuchner).

ANDREA AMICO

Andrea Amico is the founder of Privacy4Cars.com, the first app that helps businesses and consumers quickly delete their personal information from vehicles - even if they are not familiar with their systems. During his co-chairmanship of the Compliance Committee at the International Automotive Remarketers Alliance, Andrea realized there was a need for a simple and inexpensive process to reliably erase the growing amount of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) vehicles   capture - while building a compliance record to meet a growing set of privacy and IoT security regulations.
During the development of the Privacy4Car app Andrea discovered and responsibly disclosed "CarsBlues", a vehicle infotainment hack that makes it easy to expose and exploit phone PII synced into cars via Bluetooth, such as contacts, call logs, and even full text messages. Andrea demonstrated that vehicles from at least 22 automotive makes could be breached, and the Auto-ISAC estimated that tens of millions of vehicles are vulnerable to the CarsBlues technique.  Previously a senior exec at an automotive service company, a Managing Director for NBC-Universal Strategy, and a McKinsey consultant, Andrea has an MBA from Columbia University and a MSc in Engineering from Italy.

AARON WUCHNER

Aaron is an entrepreneur with a background in engineering, sustainable design, process management, and software development.   He has had a lifelong passion for cars, and his journey into the industry began as an investor in EV Fleet, a company which produced the first highway-ready fully electric fleet utility truck in 2013.  In 2014, he entered the wholesale space when he co-founded Global Dealer Exchange, an end-to-end solution for wholesale vehicle exports based in Rotterdam, Netherlands.  In 2017, he founded Carmony, a company focused on building a P2P data exchange network for auctions, fleets, dealers, banks, OEMs, and their service providers on a permissioned blockchain.

Like many industries today, the automotive industry operates in a fragmented ecosystem of legacy software systems and tablet-base tools intertwined with new cloud-based software, mobile apps, and IoT devices.  Connecting these systems in a distributed network will vastly improve the efficiency of interorganizational processes, reduce errors, prevent fraud, ensure compliance, reduce operational costs and increase value for the stakeholders
